Durham Women and Vision for Education and the Edwin Group held their annual Junior Takeover Day on Sunday, April 26 – and what an incredible success it was!
Youngsters from across the region gathered at Maiden Castle to play key roles in the Barclays Women’s Super League 2 fixture between the Blues and Sheffield United.
And they all played their part in a fantastic day on and off the pitch, as Durham ran-out 2-1 winners to ensure survival in the league.

Ahead of the game, Lottie (Year 3) designed a fantastic programme cover – with copies selling-out on the day!
You can see that cover design and read the full issue HERE.
Then as the atmosphere built-up ahead of kick-off, we had Bruce (Year 5) reading out the teams and getting the crowd pumped for the big game! He also announced both our goalscorers to huge roars from the supporters!

Pitchside was Ethan (Year 6), who captured some fantastic content for us – including a great snap of our winning goal!
You can see his photos below:
In the stand was Jenson (Year 2) who entertained listeners worldwide as co-commentator on Durham Hospital Radio.
And throughout the game, Emily (Year 6) put together some fantastic questions to ask our interim head coach, Neil Redfearn. You can watch that interview below:
