Tatiana Saunders: “We’ve Been Preparing Really Well”

We caught-up with stopper Tatiana Saunders ahead of the clash with Watford in the Barclays Women’s Championship on Sunday, January 28.

The visit of the Hornets is Durham’s first home league game of the calendar year – and tickets for the game at Maiden Castle are available HERE.

Here’s what Saunders had to say in the build-up to the game…

On the draw at Lewes…

“Obviously we want to come away with the three points, but I think getting the goal in the last minute shows the mentality that this team has.

“It shows the depth we have in the squad.

“The players that are coming on the pitch are making such an impact and we saw that with Eleanor in the last game.”

On her return to action after injury…

“I’m buzzing to be back on the pitch.

“It’s great to be back at MC in front of the fans and back with the girls.

“We have really high expectations for the season so we’re going to take it one game at a time, but there’s lots to look forward to in the New Year.”

On the visit of Watford…

“This league is so competitive and each team is so good.

“You look at the difference in points and every game is going to be competitive.

“We saw that last weekend at Lewes so we’ve been preparing really well this week and we’re going to come out roaring on Sunday.”

On the importance of our home support…

“Our fans are terrific.

“We heard them last weekend at Lewes, which is the other end of the country, and they really spurred us on to get that goal in the end.

“They make such a difference and it’s great to have such great fans supporting us.

“We hear them on the pitch and they give us that extra spur and energy to keep going.

“It makes such a difference – we have great fans.”
