Durham Women are delighted to announce the signing of Australian midfielder Rachel Lowe.
The 25-year-old joins the Blues after an impressive three-year stint with Melbourne Victory, in which Lowe established herself as one of the highest performers in the A-League.
Born in Sydney, Lowe began her career with Western Sydney Wanderers, signing with their senior squad at the age of just 15.
She made 27 appearances for WSW before a brief spell with UCLA Bruins in the USA. A move back to her hometown and Sydney FC came in 2020 where Lowe quickly became one of the most exciting prospects in the Australian top flight.
Lowe netted nine times across 47 appearances in light blue before making the switch to Melbourne Victory in 2023.
And she continued her stunning form with Victory – scoring 19 goals in 71 appearances while also being awarded the highly-coveted Victory Medal prize at the end of the 2025/26 season.
Now, Lowe has made the move to England and put pen to paper on a contract with Durham.
Speaking after making the move, the midfielder said: “It’s nice to finally be here.
“I’ve had a warm welcome, all the girls are really friendly and I’ve had my first session – so I’m feeling good.
“I’ve played for ten years in the A-League so I was ready for a change and a challenge. The BWSL2 is only getting more and more competitive, so I was wanting to try something new and get a challenge.
“I’ve played professionally for ten years and I’ve had experience with the national set-up for Australia and in a professional league, so I’ll be looking to use that knowledge and experience.
“I’m excited to play for Durham and hopefully I can do well for the club and we can have a great season.”
Rachel becomes our third summer signing, joining Jade Pennock and Dee Bradley in joining the Blues.
