Sarah Robson set for final home game with Durham Women

After ten incredible years with the club, this Sunday’s fixture with Sheffield United will be Sarah Robson’s final home game as a Durham Women player.

The Northern Irish international joined the Blues ahead of the 2016 season from Sunderland and has gone on to become a mainstay in the side over the last decade.

During her time at Maiden Castle, Robson has made 204 appearances and scored 23 goals – making her the fourth-highest appearance maker and goalscorer in the club’s history.

She has been a part of so many incredible moments over the past decade, scoring crucial last-minute winners and goals against the likes of Manchester United which teammates, staff and fans will cherish forever.

She has also been named North East Football Writers’ Player of the Year a record three times, while also captaining Northern Ireland in the UEFA Women’s European Championships during her time at Durham.

Alongside her role on the field, Robson has also coached within our Pathway for a number of years – helping to develop a number of our current first-team squad.

We will be making a special presentation to Sarah Robson ahead of Sunday’s game, and would therefore encourage fans to enter the stadium by 11:40am.

Reflecting on her time with Durham, Robson said: “I was asked the other day what’s the best time in your career, and the last ten years has been the pinnacle of my career and the bit I’ll always remember.

“There’s been so many good moments at this club. I’ve had some of the best moments of my career and I’ll always be grateful to them signing me.

“I’m really proud and it’ll only be when I sit down in four or five years time and reflect – we had such a good time and I was part of that club when it was really, really successful.

“I can leave a legacy not only on the pitch but off the pitch. I worked with every age group and those players are now coming into our first-team – and I like looking back and thinking maybe I played a small part in their development and career.”

This isn’t the end of Robson’s playing career and she will be continuing to take to the field in the 2026/27 season.

Explaining her next steps, the midfielder said: “I’ve been selected to go onto an LMA Diploma next year, and I’m hoping I can part-time coach too.

“But because I go back to work after my maternity, full-time football isn’t sustainable anymore.

“I hope to continue to play somewhere and I feel like I can still offer a lot on the pitch.”

Please join us ahead of kick-off on Sunday to salute a true club legend.
