Durham Women & Vision for Education to host inspirational Junior Takeover Day!

Durham Women and Vision for Education are teaming up to give local pupils a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity – as part of our annual Junior Takeover Day!

At the Barclays Women’s Super League 2 fixture against Sheffield United on Sunday 26th April, youngsters from across the North East will take on a variety of match day roles.

This builds on last season’s first-ever Junior Takeover Day in the BWSL2, and was designed to inspire local students to look at careers in sport that exist beyond the pitch.

Pupils aged 7-13 were invited to apply and we were inundated with impressive applications from all over our region – before a panel of judges from Durham Women decided on the lucky winners.

They will now take on one of five roles in and around the match day, which will see pupils doing everything from designing the match day programme front cover to helping in providing co-commentary on Durham Hospitals Radio.

Our winners and the roles they will be under-taking are:

  • Programme Cover Designer – Lottie (Year 3)
  • Stadium Announcer – Bruce (Year 5)
  • Co-Commentator – Jenson (Year 2)
  • Post-Match Interviewer – Emily (Year 6)
  • Content Creator – Ethan (Year 6)

Keep your eyes peeled on April 26 for all the youngsters completing their roles, and we’ll have some of the content they produce on our channels in the days following the game!
