Durham Women sign promotion-winning winger Angela Addison

Durham Women are delighted to confirm the signing of promotion-winning and England U23 winger Angela Addison.

The skilful wide forward joins the Blues with vast experience of both the Barclays Women’s Super League and Women’s Super League 2 – having won promotion from the latter with Tottenham Hotspur.

Addison started her career at C&K Basildon, scoring 11 goals in just 16 appearances during her first senior season.

Her second campaign was equally impressive as she netted 23 times in 26 games – with that form attracting the interest of Tottenham.

Addison’s move to Spurs saw her kick-on again, and she netted six times during the 2018/19 season as the club secured promotion to the Barclays Women’s Super League.

The winger continued to be a key part of the Tottenham side that established themselves in the top tier and displayed further fine form in front of goal – which included a four-minute hat-trick during a 6-0 cup win over Lewes.

It was during that time that England’s under-23 side came knocking, with Addison handed a number of caps for the Young Lionesses.

She then made the move to Charlton Athletic in 2022 and became a regular in the side during her two years at The Valley, helping the Addicks finish second as they narrowly missed out on promotion during the 2023/24 season.

Addison spent last season with Ipswich Town, scoring seven goals in 16 appearances as The Tractor Girls secured promotion from the FA Women’s National League.

And having now arrived at Maiden Castle, the 25-year-old is looking forward to making her mark.

“It feels good to be here,” she said.

“Durham are obviously a strong side and I look forward to working with them this season.

“They’re a strong, established team and have been for many years. Playing against them has always been tough, so that appealed to me.

“The WSL is expanding so we’re looking to do some big things this season.”

“I’m very excited to meet the fans – Durham have got a massive fanbase and every time I’ve played here it’s been packed.”

Addison will wear the number 18 shirt at Maiden Castle.

This summer, we want to shine a spotlight on our region and will be unveiling all our signings at iconic locations across County Durham. Addison was unveiled as a Durham player at Durham Cathedral, an Anglican Cathedral and UNESCO World Heritage site.

The deal remains subject to league and FA approval.
