Grace Ayre signs new long-term contract with Durham Women

Durham Women are delighted to confirm that Grace Ayre has signed a new long-term contract with the club.

The 23-year-old is a product of the club’s academy system and, having made her first team debut in October 2020, has since cemented herself as a key member of the squad.

Ayre has now made 76 appearances for Durham, with 22 of those coming in the 2024/25 season as the full-back played a vital role in our top four finish.

Last season also saw Ayre bag her first goal for the club as she netted the decisive strike in a 1-0 win away at Birmingham City in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup third round.

And having put pen to paper on fresh terms, the pathway product is now looking forward to pushing on further.

“I’m really happy to commit my future here at Durham,” she said.

“I’ve been here for eight years and now and I’m really happy, it feels like home here. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.

“Last season was a really good season for us. We had hopes and aspirations at the beginning of the season and we tried to put them into play.

“I think everyone’s aspiration this year will be to finish in the top two, top three and get promoted. That should be everyone’s goal and I’m really excited to get going.”
