Match Preview | Michaela Foster previews Portsmouth

Michaela Foster caught up with us to preview Sunday’s game against Portsmouth in the Barclays Women’s Championship

Foster on the Newcastle result…

“Obviously it’s a derby and there was a big build up to it last week but coming into it we felt ready and to have a home game against them, we were excited about it.

“It was great to hear the fans behind us and to play in that environment to help us get the three points.

Foster on Aimee Claypole’s two goals…

“I was personally happy for her, and I know the whole team was.

“It had been a long time coming for her I think, so hopefully it gives her a bit of confidence going into the next few games.

Foster on how the squad is feeling after a week off…

“We’re feeling good, it has been good to have a few days off, but we have refocused this week for Portsmouth and we’re ready to go with another home game.”

Foster on the Portsmouth game…

“I think we’re ready for a challenge, I think they’re going to bring it.

“We’ve seen the games and results they’ve had the last few weeks and they’ve been on a bit of an up and created some wins.

“But I think this week, obviously buzzing off a good win against Newcastle, so hopefully we can refocus and get another big three points and take the win on Sunday.”

Foster on the fans…

“It is one of our last home games and I think it’ll be really important to have a big crowd there this weekend.

“Three points keeps us near the top of the table, we never know what can happen in this league, so the fans can make that 1% difference at the end of the day.
