Match Preview | Sarah Wilson previews Blackburn

Durham skipper Sarah Wilson caught up with us ahead of Sunday’s Barclays Women’s Championship game against Blackburn

Wilson on the draw against Sheffield United…

“To be honest with you, it’s a really good point away from home.

“I think it’s frustrating, we did obviously dominate the game in the first 20 minutes, half an hour, but then we kind of took our foot off and that’s the most frustrating thing.

“It just shows how tough the league is.

“Once you’ve reflected on it, a point away from home is crucial at this point in the season.”

Wilson on the squad…

“We’ve been working really really hard, I think obviously, you want that momentum and we’re just dying to get back onto the pitch.”

Wilson on Blackburn…

“We know it’s going to be an incredibly tough game; it always is against Blackburn.

“We’ve come up against them for a number of years now, we know what they’re about.

“Obviously earlier on in the season, it was really difficult, so we know it’s going to be a battle and it’s just about who wants it more on Sunday.”

Wilson on the Blue Army…

“We can’t wait to see them again.

“We know they’re always going to bring the noise and we are just dying to be back out at Maiden Castle.”

Wilson on the club’s change of ownership and investors…

“It’s incredible, it just shows where the club is going.

“It’s unbelievable for the area, it’s amazing for the girls coming through.

“We kind of always say, we wish we were ten years younger because it’s frightening where the club is going to go to.

“There is obviously so much work that has gone on off the pitch for a number of years to get to where we are and it is just really really exciting for the club.”
