Durham Women are pleased to announce their second signing of the January window in Rylee Foster.
Rylee, firstly, welcome to Durham, how does it feel to be here?
‘It’s exciting, I think being in the transfer window is full of uncertainty but I’m really happy to be in the North East, it’s a new environment, a new culture to get used to.
‘The first few days, I’ve really enjoyed it, and I’m excited to get started with the girls.’
You’ve been here a few days now, had a few sessions with the team, how has it been so far?
‘The standard is really good, the girls have been great, helping me get used to their style of play, their culture and their team dynamic.
‘It’s been nice to be around the staff, around the facilities and just getting used to everything.’
You spent last season playing in Australia, what did you learn from being over there?
‘Alot, I think playing in the A-League itself is very different, I think every single game, very similar to the Championship, you never know who’s going to come out with three points.
‘On top of that, for the club that I was playing with, I had to deal with a lot of different personalities and cultures, so I learnt a lot about maturity, communication styles, and just getting used to playing the game again after I was out for so long.’
You have a familiar face here in Michaela Foster, you’ve played with her down-under, how is that coming into a new squad?
‘It’s been really nice, Mickey has helped me get my grasp, introduced me to new people, kind of just told me the ways I need to go, she’s always just been a really good character to be around, so I’m really happy to be back around her.
‘She used to be my roommate at Phoenix so it’s nice to see her and catch up.’
For the people that maybe haven’t seen you play before, what can the fans expect from your game?
‘Alot of communication, I like to delegate but also instruct the backline.
‘My feet are probably one of my biggest assets, I am pretty confident and calm under pressure.’
You’ll have heard a lot about the fans already, how excited are you to meet the Blue Army?
‘I’m really excited, one of my favourite things about coming to a new club is to introduce myself to the fans and kind of immerse myself into their culture.
‘I’m looking forward to hopefully impressing them when my debut comes and creating that relationship with them, helping to make them proud of the girls’.
