After a long wait, Durham Women are set to return to the Maiden Castle turf this weekend.
The Blues take on Charlton Athletic in another crucial game in the Barclays Women’s Championship on Sunday, January 19 (12pm kick-off). With the Blues sat just one point off the top of the table, this is a clash that could have a major impact on the promotion race – and hundreds of tickets have already been snapped-up!
But there’s still time for you to secure your spot at the big match – and here’s five reasons you can’t afford to miss the big game…
TOP SPOT IN OUR SIGHTS
After a stunning start to the season, Durham currently sit just one point off the top of the league – and the all-important promotion spot!
But this season’s promotion race is set to be the tightest yet, with a whole host of sides still holding hope of claiming the league title.
Charlton are one of them, and a win could propel the Addicks up the table – so there’s loads on the line this weekend.
A FRESH FACE
The transfer window opened a fortnight ago, with Durham adding Chelsea striker Aimee Claypole to the squad after she agreed a half-season loan deal.
The 19-year-old comes with real pedigree having scored 30 goals in 22 games in the PGA U21 league while also experiencing Champions League football during a loan spell in Sweden.

After last weekend’s cup clash at Brighton was postponed, Claypole could make her debut in this clash.
