Match Preview | Carly Johns looks ahead to Bristol City

Durham Women striker Carly Johns caught up with us to preview Sunday’s trip to Bristol in the Women’s Championship.

We’re set to face the southern side in our final game of the year at Ashton Gate on Sunday, December 15 with a 12pm kick-off.

Here’s what she had to say.

Johns on the week so far…

“It’s been a really good week.

“Obviously, two wins in a row now so we’re looking to build on that against Bristol on Sunday.”

Johns on Bristol…

“I think it’s another important game to end our first half of the season.

“Just before Christmas so it’ll be really important to get that win, especially with how tight it is at the minute.”

Johns on training this week…

“I think it’s important to get our recovery in, but at the same time keep the legs moving on the pitch and I think we’ve got the balance this week.”

Johns on the fans…

“They’re just so good, we hear them wherever we’re playing.

“It could be away or at home, they’re really loud and we really appreciate them.”

Johns on the Christmas break…

“We are getting loads of points on the board, getting those wins, so it’ll be good to get a rest and then hopefully build on the next half of the season.”

Johns on the home games in 2025…

“It’ll be lovely to see the fans down here.

“Get behind us and hopefully we can push on and stay at the top of the table.”
