Match Reaction | Adam Furness on win at Blackburn

We caught-up with Head Coach, Adam Furness, following the win away at Blackburn Rovers.

Here’s what he had to say…

Furness on the result…

“Three points on the board in an away game, and it was massively important we got back to winning ways after the Sunderland game.

“We made hard work of it today and it was a game of two halves – but overall we’re absolutely delighted with three points.”

Furness on what was said at half-time…

“I just didn’t think we were Durham.

“First half, we didn’t get going. We were too slow, too stand-offish and nothing like we want to look like.

“We changed shape and personnel for the second half and we came out the traps flying and showed what we’re about.”

Furness on bouncing back from falling behind…

“We said afterwards, to come from behind shows great character.

“I think the second half was one-way traffic and we’re a little bit disappointed we didn’t go on to get a fourth and a fifth – and then to concede one right at the end, then you become a little bit nervy.

“But we’re really pleased with the outcome.”

Furness on different types of goals…

“In any successful teams, players have to chip in from all over to get on the goal sheet.

“Beth’s free-kick was outstanding and then you’ve got Briggsy bombing on from full-back with a great finish.

“And then Mickey caps it off with an outstanding long-range goal and I think that put a cherry on her cake because she was fantastic.”

Furness on the travelling support…

“I think the Durham fans probably outnumbered the home support.

“They were definitely loud, definitely proud and it’s great to have them here backing the girls and we really appreciate their support.”
