Head Coach Adam Furness spoke to external media following the win at Newcastle United.
Here’s what he had to say…
Furness on the performance and result…
“I think the smile says it all really, in terms of the outcome. It’s a fabulous win for the club.
“We’re absolutely over the moon with the outcome.
“Performance wise, is a game of two halves a little bit too cliched?
“The first half I didn’t think we were anywhere near in terms of our levels that we’ve shown so far this season.
“Tatiana in goal has made a couple of great saves and on days like this you need everybody. You need your goalie to perform and everyone else throughout the pitch to perform as well.
“Once we got in at half-time and solved a few things, we came back out second half and we were delighted with the performance.
“Really front-footed, really took the game to them – and the celebrations will probably go down as a bit of Durham history.”
Furness on the first half…
“I think perhaps the occasion, what’s at stake with it being such a big game.
“I just don’t think we got up and running quick enough and Newcastle were really front-footed in that spell.
“Thankfully we managed to keep them out when they had a good spell which is what you need, but I thought we grew into the game and the second half performance was great.”
Furness on the winning goal…
“I told her before the game that I could see a Mollie Lambert goal today!
“She’s had a couple of chances in recent games and we’re delighted to see that go in today.”
