After back-to-back away games, Durham Women are set to return to the Maiden Castle turf this weekend.
The Blues take on Birmingham City in another crucial game in the Barclays Women’s Championship on Sunday, September 29 (12pm kick-off). With two wins to our name already, we’re looking to continue our promising start to the campaign.. And with hundreds of tickets already snapped-up, there looks set to be a strong crowd backing the Blues on our return home.
But there’s still time for you to secure your spot at the season opener – and here’s five reasons you can’t afford to miss the big game…
4TH v 2ND
Both teams have enjoyed strong starts to the season, with Durham’s two wins thus far seeing them sit fourth in the table at this early stage – just three points off the top spot.
Birmingham, meanwhile, are unbeaten having won two and drawn one and are yet to concede a goal. Amy Merricks’ sit second in the league and could go top with victory – so there’s plenty on the line in this game.
A FRESH FACE
The transfer window slammed shut a fortnight ago, with Durham Women making one late addition in the shape of New Zealand international Michaela Foster. The 25-year-old makes the move to the North East after representing her country at the Olympics during the summer.
Foster was among the substitutes for the trip to Charlton Athletic last weekend, so could be in-line for her first minutes on the pitch this weekend.
HALF-TIME FUN!
We love giving our young fans an opportunity to take centre stage, and that’s what will happen at Sunday’s game!
At half-time, we’ll have the chance for young supporters to take part in a half-time activity on the pitch, so listen out for announcements!
CAN’T MISS MERCH
We saw record merchandise sales at our opening day fixture, and we’ll have plenty available for you again this time around!
There’s a limited stock of replica shirts, new match day programmes and the latest stickers in our 2024/25 Sticker Collection – plus much more!
MEET THE PLAYERS
Always a highlight of our match days is the player meet and greet post-match.
And that’s going to continue this season, with our squad heading over to meet supporters in front of the Main Stand once they’ve completed their post-match team talk.
So get yourself down and bring your autograph book!
