Hannah Blake reflects on ‘brilliant performance’ at Portsmouth

Summer signing Hannah Blake netted her first goal for Durham Women in the 3-0 win at Portsmouth – and we caught-up with her post-match.

Here’s what the New Zealand international had to say…

Blake on the win…

“It was a brilliant performance from the girls.

“We’ll look back on the second half and have things to improve on – but three goals and a win for the group.

“Two games and two wins, we can’t complain about that.”

Blake on showing two sides to our performance…

“That’s what it’s all about. Not everything is necessarily going to go our way.

“We played really well in the first half and we were really dominating the game.

“The momentum potentially shifted in the second half but we dealt with that really well and toughed it out to get the three points.

“That’s all that matters.”

Blake on netting her first goal…

“I’m really happy to get off the mark with my first goal.

“It was great build-up play and great to see the ball hit the back of the net.

“Hopefully it’s the start of a few more throughout the season.”

Blake on a real team performance…

“Gritting it out and getting the three points was absolutely brilliant.

“A clean sheet is going to do as much for us as the three goals.

“It’s a great team performance.”

Blake on the away support…

“Having a small contingent of fans here was absolutely brilliant.

“That shows their dedication and credit to them for making the trip down – we really appreciate it and it helped us get the win today.”
