Durham Women hit the road for the first time this season as they head to face Portsmouth on Saturday, September 14 (12pm kick-off).
And forward Lily Crosthwaite is hoping the side can continue the momentum gained from their win last weekend.
The Blues are looking to build on their opening day triumph over Sheffield United as they make the long trip to Westleigh Park to face one of the Barclays Women’s Championship newcomers.
And here’s what Crosthwaite had to say ahead of the game:
Crosthwaite on the win over Sheffield United…
“We’re buzzing to start the season with a win.
“We know how hard and long the pre-season has been, so for us to implement that and then get the result – it was massive for us.
“When you work on something for so long, to see things fall into place and happen as they did is great.
“Mollie’s goal is something we’ve worked on for a lot of pre-season, to shift the ball like that.
“It’s great to see.”
Crosthwaite on the summer signings…
“They’re brilliant players and brilliant people too.
“To add them to the group we already have is massive and only strengthens us even more.”
Crosthwaite on taking confidence from the opening day…
“We know how hard the league is and the fact we’re able to start with a win is great and boosts the morale.
“We know Portsmouth are new to the league but we’ll never underestimate them.
“We’ll prepare like any other game and when it comes to game day we’ll implement our plan and hopefully get a result.”
Crosthwaite on Portsmouth…
“They look like a creative team.
“We know they’re going to come and threaten us, but we’ve got to keep the focus on us.
“We want to keep carrying the momentum through the season.”
Crosthwaite on the travelling fans…
“They’ve always travelled with us wherever we’ve gone.
“It’s massive that they travel with us that distance and it’s massive for us.”
