Durham Women are delighted to be welcoming Durham City Police to our opening day fixture with Sheffield United!
The club have worked with our local force for several years on community engagement initiatives – allowing our young fans to find out more about the police and the work they do in the local area.
And they’ll be present on September 8 when we welcome the Blades, offering FREE giveaways and activities including:
- FREE inflatable hands for fans to make some noise with throughout the game
- Fun arts and crafts activities for our young supporters
- The chance to try on some police uniform!

The opening game against the Blades at Maiden Castle comes as the exciting new Barclays Women’s Championship season begins, at what is the dawn of a new era for the women’s professional game in England. And to mark the start of this fresh chapter, Durham Women have a number of activities planned as we look to make a strong start to the new campaign.
Here’s what else we’ve got planned for the fixture with Sheffield United:
- Player meet and greets – you’ll be able to meet our players, including summer signings, at the end of the game for autographs and selfies!
- Our Pathway teams as mascots and the Guard of Honour – as we introduce the crowd to the next generation of Durham Women players coming through the ranks!
- A half-time parade of our 2024/25 Sister Clubs – celebrating and promoting grassroots football in the North East. Find out more about our free Sister Club Programme and how you can get involved HERE.
- Food & Drink from Fat Frank’s Street Food – with a wide range of selection, plus we’ll also have Cafe Nero open serving a range of hot and cold food and drink throughout the afternoon
- Plus the unmissable action on the field – there were seven goals in this fixture last year, and another exciting contest is in store!
Over 1,000 fans attended Durham’s final fixture of last season, and another bumper crowd is expected for this clash with hundreds of tickets already snapped-up. Supporters are therefore strongly advised to book tickets online in advance to avoid disappointment.
Supporters can purchase their tickets now via our easy-to-use online ticketing platform. Prices are as follows:
