Mollie Lambert on pre-season and Liverpool Feds

We caught-up with Mollie Lambert ahead of the pre-season friendly with Liverpool Feds.

The midfielder – who signed a new contract at Maiden Castle in the summer – is already itching to get back in front of supporters when the Blues travel to Penrith AFC to face the FA WNL side on Sunday, August 11.

And here’s what she had to say shortly after completing another positive pre-season session…

Lambert on pre-season…

“It’s enjoyable – and the sun is out so it’s making it better!

“It’s been tough. We’re demanding more, especially after last season. Our standards have risen a lot more and we needed them to.

“It’s a new start and a fresh start.”

Lambert on our behind closed doors friendlies…

“We’ve had three games now and there’s a lot of positives to take.

“But we take the negatives, we listen to them, we watch and analyse and work on them.

“Each game has got better and hopefully by the start of the season there’s not as many negatives.”

Lambert on a different style of play…

“One of our main aims this year was to get smiles back on our faces and it’s starting to show.

“We’re enjoying it. It’s a different style and our main aim is to get smiles back on our face and give the crowd something to cheer about.”

Lambert on the friendly with Liverpool Feds…

“We’re buzzing.

“It’s going to be something different.

“We miss the fans in pre-season playing behind closed doors but we know they’ll be there in their numbers [on Sunday].

“They’ve got a bus going down and we can’t wait to see them.

“It’s really hard to play behind closed doors. Hopefully it’s preparation for the first game of the season.”

Lambert on our opening day fixture with Sheffield United…

“I think it’s a really good first game to have it at home.

“We can get our fans going and the new players can see what it’s about to be at Durham.”
