Durham Women FC are delighted to confirm that Durham Hospitals Radio (DHR) will continue to broadcast the club’s games during the 2024/25 season.
The two organisations began working together in 2014 as Durham entered the elite of women’s football, and have provided commentary of every home game since – calling many memorable moments from throughout Durham’s history.
But the partnership hasn’t just been confined to the pitch – with Durham Women helping to provide new equipment to enable DHR to continue their remote broadcasts.
And now the pair will continue to work together moving forward, with DHR set to offer commentary of every home game and select away games on dhradio.org.uk and within the hospital.
John Middleton of Durham Hospitals Radio said: “It is a pleasure and a privilege to continue our coverage of our team!
“Ever since we were welcomed into the Durham family in 2014, DHR has enjoyed bringing the action to our patients and the world.
“We look forward to what promises to be an exciting season! Thanks to Mark, Lee, Dawn and all at Durham WFC. On a personal note, I look forward to reaching 150 games covered and continuing the Durham Roarcast!”
Mark Donnelly, Durham’s Operations & Marketing Manager, added: “Everyone at the club thoroughly enjoys working with John, Colin and the rest of the DHR team and we’re grateful for their continued support in providing this great service to supporters.
“Fans inside and outside the ground tune in on a weekly basis and that shows just how valuable this partnership is.
“DHR’s commentary consistently draws praise from clubs and fans across the country and we’re so pleased that they’re going to keep providing that service to supporters.”
