Sarah Wilson | “The work rate has been fantastic”

We sat-down with skipper Sarah Wilson as the squad prepared for their second week of pre-season training.

With the intensity ramping-up a notch – and with some Behind Closed Doors friendlies rapidly approaching – we got the captain’s thoughts on pre-season so far:

Wilson on pre-season and our new signings…

“It’s been really good.

“It’s been good to have everyone back together – the returning faces and then the new girls are settling in well too.

“They’re integrating really quickly.

“Obviously because the first few weeks are really tough it’s good to get to know everyone. When it’s tough to you really get to know people.

“Then to keep so many members of the squad from last season says everything about the club.

“Everyone was really keen to get back and the first week was excellent. The work rate on the pitch and in the gym has been fantastic.”

Wilson on the tough nature of pre-season…

“There’s a few rusty touches out there!

“We had a nice break but you can already see that everyone has been working really hard in the off-season.

“That makes it easier for the group and the staff when everyone comes back flying.”

Wilson on upcoming Behind Closed Doors friendlies…

“You want to play, and it’s nice that we have some booked in during the next couple of weeks.

“Then it’s going to be great to have the fans there when we play Liverpool Feds.

“It’s nice for us to find our feet and get playing again because that’s what we want to do.”

Wilson on the incredible support over the summer…

“You can tell they’ve missed it and we’ve missed them too.

“Over the past couple of seasons how much the fanbase has grown and we really feel the support from them.

“They’re missing us and we can’t wait to get back in front of them and we know they’ll welcome the new players into the squad as well.”
