We caught-up with Hannah Blake after she put pen to paper on a deal with Durham Women.
The New Zealand international becomes our second summer signing, and here’s what she had to say…
Blake on joining Durham…
“It feels a bit surreal – coming from the other side of the world.
“It’s been an experience, but it’s great to be here and settle in and I’m excited to get going tomorrow with the girls.”
Blake on returning to England to play…
“I’m really excited to be playing in England.
“Being born here, I’ve done a full circle and I’m now coming back to play.
“Playing in the Championship has been an aspiration of mine for a while now, so I’m really excited to be taking that next step.”
Blake on making the move to Durham…
“Durham is a great club and coming and meeting Lee and everyone in the club made me sure this was somewhere I can play good football.
“Seeing the environment and what the club has to offer made me confident that I could play my best football here and achieve the goals that I have moving forward.
Blake on what the fans can expect from her…
“I’m definitely a player that loves to get on the ball and make things happen.
“I love to take people on, shoot, score goals, create goals – and just hopefully get some wins under the belt and have a good season individually and for the team.”
Blake on her aims this season…
“For me, getting settled and adjusted to the Championship will be a great start.
“Coming so far and not having had exposure to English football, getting comfortable and used to playing with the girls will be a great start.”
Blake on the Blue Army...
“I’m really excited to play in front of the fans- it’ll be great.
“England is such a great place for passion in football and that drove me to come over here.
“I’m excited to get to meet them, play in front of them and hopefully give them plenty to cheer about.”
