Four North East schools are on their way to watch England’s Lionesses – thanks to Vision for Education and Durham Women.
The Barclays Women’s Championship club have been partnered with the leading educational recruitment company since 2014, in what is now one of the longest-running shirt sponsorship deals in the country.
Since the relationship began, the club and Vision for Education have sent hundreds of children to watch marquee fixtures – including international games and Adobe Women’s FA Cup finals at Wembley Stadium.
And this year, 50 pupils and members of staff will be heading to St James’ Park in Newcastle to watch the Lionesses take on France in a crucial UEFA Women’s European Championships qualifying game.
They will be joining a bumper crowd in the North East as Sarina Weigman’s side return to the region.
The excited students from Thornhill Academy, Academy 360, Whitley Bay High School and Kings Priory School were presented with their tickets by Durham Women defender and captain Sarah Wilson.
Students were able to quiz the club’s skipper on life as a professional footballer and get tips as they target a career in the game themselves.
Mark Donnelly, Durham Women’s Marketing & Operations Manager, added: “It’s always a big highlight of the year working Vision for Education to send students to events such as these.
“Getting to watch the Lionesses will hopefully be a major source of encouragement and motivation for the students who are attending this game.
“This tops-off a fantastic year working with Vision for Education where we’ve also delivered a number of tournaments and school visits – all with the aim of inspiring the next generation in our region.”
