We caught-up with Mollie Lambert after she was named as Durham Women’s Player of the Year at our 2023/24 End of Season Awards.
Here’s what she had to say:
Lambert on the award win…
“I’m so proud of it.
“To get this awards tops the season off and makes it all worthwile.
“It’s a very proud moment for me.”
Lambert on her highlights of the season…
“It’s a cliche, but probably the end of the season and the fact we took away three points [against Birmingham].
“We got a clean sheet – which is something we’ve been working on all season – and to end an overall poor season on three points is amazing.
“Scoring goals is something you always like to do and against Sunderland, in our local derby, they were two very proud moments for me to score the goals.”
Lambert on the growth of the club…
“It’s amazing.
“Look how busy the room is, especially with the youngsters coming through.
“It’s great to have Nico, Lily, Grace – they’ve all come up through the academy and Cestria.
“It’s good to see the squad is quite local and it’s great to be a part of.”
Lambert on the impact of our fans…
“We keep saying it after every game, we always say about the crowd and our fans.
“They follow us up and down the country – next year we have Portsmouth away and you can guarantee they’ll be there.
“I don’t feel like any other club has that. It’s amazing to be part of and the fans should be very proud.”
