Amy Andrews: “It’s building up”

Amy Andrews believes Durham Women are building up to more positive results – as they prepare to welcome promotion-chasing Crystal Palace.

Here’s what the forward had to say ahead of the game:

Andrews on the Sunderland game…

“It was a very entertaining game to be a part of, and I’m sure to watch as well.

“We were very unlucky not to get anything from the game. We were down 2-0 and we came back.

“It was 3-3 and then we made it too easy for them in the final few minutes.

“It’s definitely something to progress and build on and we’re doing that this week.”

Andrews on the character shown…

“We should be getting the points this year already, we’ve just been very unlucky.

“But it’s building up and building up and I feel like it’s coming.

“I’m really proud of the girls for going to the final whistle. They don’t give up.

“When we’re back in training they want to learn, improve and make sure we get points on the weekend.”

Andrews on confidence in the camp…

“We know we put on good performances, it’s just those little mistakes we make that cost us the game.

“We need to start learning to capitalise on other teams mistakes.

“Once we do that, we’ll be fine.”

Andrews on Crystal Palace…

“They’re an incredible team.

“Obviously we want redemption after the game last time and we’ll definitely be looking to do that.

“But they’re a really good team and we have to respect them.”

Andrews on the importance of the fans on home soil…

“Hopefully we’ve got a lot of fans coming to support us as they really help us every single game.

“We love playing at home with everyone around us.”

Andrews’ message to the fans…

“Please don’t give up on us, it really helps us.

“We hear you cheering throughout the game and it helps me and I know it helps the girls.

“Thank you for your support and please continue to do that.”
