Becky Salicki: “Support Us In Every Single Way”

Becky Salicki has issued a rallying cry to Durham Women supporters ahead of Sunday’s River Wear Derby with Sunderland.

A significant number of the Blue Army will head to Eppleton CW for the clash, and the defender has called on them to back the side throughout in a crucial game.

Here’s what the defender had to say ahead of the game…

Salicki on the Charlton defeat…

“It was frustrating because I actually think we were the better team for the majority of the game.

“Charlton are a quality team and are among the top four teams at the moment, and I think we had a lot of positives we could take from it.

“But it was disappointing to come away with nothing and I think we at least deserved a draw out of it.”

Salicki on Sunderland…

“It’ll be another hard battle.

“Regardless of where the teams are in the league, our games with Sunderland are always going to be competitive.

“It’s always been a tough battle and I’m expecting a tough game.

“They’re a quality side and they’ve got a very good coach who organises them very well and it’s paid off and shown in their results.

“But we know what we can do and we’ve worked very hard in training this week to make sure we put right our wrongs that we’ve had over the last couple of weeks.

“Fingers crossed we can give them a good game on Sunday.”

Salicki on the impact of our fans…

“I’d encourage all our fans to be there – bring the drums and support us in every single way.

“We need you more than ever, so please get your friends and family and come down and support us on Sunday.”
