Durham Women are delighted to confirm that defender Ellie Christon has returned to the club.
The defender headed to America at the end of the 2022/23 season to pursue an exciting opportunity, but now returns to Maiden Castle to bolster the squad for the conclusion of the current campaign.
Christon joined the club ahead of our debut season in the second tier in 2014 and went on to become a regular in the Barclays Women’s Championship, racking-up 189 appearances across nine seasons in Blue.
Speaking after returning to the North East, she said: “It’s amazing to be back and it’s like home.
“It’s been a challenging year with injury and moving away, but being back feels really comforting.
“It’s an exciting time to be here. The league is really competitive and tight at both ends, so it’s good to be back part of it.
“I just wanted to get as many minutes as I can and help the team in any way.”
Christon will once again wear the number 16 shirt, and is eligible for Sunday’s game at Sunderland if selected.
