Becky Salicki: “I’ll Just Do My Best For The Club”

Becky Salicki could make her 175th appearance for Durham when Charlton Athletic visit Maiden Castle on Sunday, March 17.

After joining the club in 2016, the centre back has been a near ever-present in the backline and will join a number of her teammates in hitting the milestone.

And ahead of the fixture, we caught-up with Salicki…

Salicki on the mood in the camp…

“It’s been really good to be fair.

“There were lots of positives to take from the Blackburn game and I feel like we did really well in the game.

“We were disappointed to concede a couple of goals but we’ve been looking at it, analysing it and we’ve worked really hard in training.”

Salicki on positives from recent performances…

“I think you can see the hard work we’ve been putting in during training finally starting to show.

“Some of our performances haven’t been good enough but the last two games you can see it’s starting to improve.

“We’re staring to see the fruits of our labour, definitely.”

Salicki on our upcoming fixtures – facing three sides battling for promotion…

“Regardless of if teams are above or below us, every team is just as hard as the next.

“It doesn’t really matter in terms of placement in the league – we go into each game and try our very best to get three points.”

Salicki on approaching 175 games for Durham…

“It’s massive for me.

“I didn’t think I’d ever get this opportunity. I got kind of left in the mud a little bit and Durham picked me up from it and I’m always hugely grateful and thankful for it.

“Any time I get the opportunity, I’ll just do my best for the club.”

Salicki on our long-awaited return to Maiden Castle…

“Our fans have been travelling the length of the country for us, so even the away games have felt like home!

“But it’s going to be amazing to be back at home again and have the support.

“We really need the fans more than ever to push us over the line – so please come out in your numbers, be loud, bang that drum and wave your pom-poms and get us going on Sunday!”
