Durham Women have a HUGE International Women’s Day planned – with our players set to inspire the next generation across the region.
Our first team players will be present at events across the region to celebrate the day, while passing on advice and guidance to the next generation of female footballers.
We’ve also got plenty that fans can get involved with, so keep your eyes peeled across our channels!
Here’s exactly what we’ve got planned for International Women’s Day:
- In association with club partners Vision for Education, we’ll be visiting six schools across the North East to deliver inspirational assemblies to their students
- Becky Salicki and Beth Hepple will be visiting Tanfield School
- Lauren Briggs and Grace Ayre are heading to Castleside Primary School
- Park View School will welcome Erin Nicholson and Dee Bradley
- Eleanor Ryan-Doyle and Ella Wilson will be speaking to students at Browney Academt
- Crook Primary School is the destination for Saoirse Noonan and Lily Crosthwaite
- Skipper Sarah Wilson and Sarah Robson are paying a visit to Belmont Community School
- Mollie Lambert and Naoisha McAloon are at Bede Sixth Form Centre, where they’ll be hosting a Q&A with members of the ISE Women’s Football Academy
- New Ferens Park will host Tatiana Saunders and Anna King who will be joining in with County Durham Sport’s International Women’s Day Football Festival
- Amy Andrews and Olivia Bramley are visiting Newton Aycliffe to participate in Sedgefield SSP’s Football Festival
- PGA duo Mia Gibbon and Grace Mackie are heading to Gurney Pease Academy in Darlington to meet students
And we’ve got hundreds of free child tickets for our game with Charlton Athletic to hand out to participants at all of these visits!
In addition to these visits, we’ve also done plenty of work behind the scenes in recent weeks to inspire the next generation on International Women’s Day, including:
- Providing dozens of video messages from Olivia Bramley and Sarah Wilson to congratulate schools and pupils taking part in the #LetGirlsPlay Biggest Ever Football Session
- Offering free tickets to over 70 schools, community groups and clubs in the North East – you can still register for those by clicking HERE
- Working with schools and Schools Sport Partnerships to provide resources, competition prizes and more all with the aim of increasing participation and engagement with football
We’ll also be holding a special Flash Sale on International Women’s Day – register for our email database HERE to be the first to find out all about that!
