Beth Hepple: “Every Point Is Really Important”

Beth Hepple is expecting another difficult test when Durham travel to Blackburn Rovers on Sunday.

The two sides sit just one place apart in the Barclays Women’s Championship and the two meetings already this term – in the league and Continental Cup – have been tight affairs settled by the single goal.

And Hepple said she was expecting nothing less this time around when we caught-up with her ahead of the game.

Here’s what she had to say:

Hepple on the London City draw…

“I thought it was a really good all-round performance from everyone.

“To be honest, I thought we were unlucky not to win the game – but obviously if you’re not clinical enough in front of goal then you’re not going to get results.

“We’ve done it numerous times this season where we’ve got late goals and that’s something that’s a really good factor to have in our team.

“The fact we keep on going has got us a lot of points and hopefully we can keep that going – but hopefully we can see games out before then and get the result!”

Hepple on her personal form…

“It’s nice to be back on the pitch and getting consistent game time is always important.

“It’s nice to be back helping the team.”

Hepple on the international break…

“It’s probably a bit frustrating for every team to be honest, you have a game, a break, a game, a break.

“But it’s more time on the training pitch and more time to work on what we want to work on and hopefully that will pay off on Sunday.”

Hepple on Blackburn…

“They’re always a very difficult and very good team.

“We’re both in a similar situation so every point is really important.

“We know it’ll be a tough test on Sunday but we’re trying to prepare as best we can and be ready.”

Hepple on the impact of the away fans – with a bumper backing expected…

“We always have brilliant support, but obviously Blackburn’s not too far for the fans.

“It’s exciting that we’ll have such a good backing and hopefully we can get the result for them.”
