Claire Ditchburn believes that Durham’s point at London City could prove a big one come the end of the season.
And the Head Coach believes it was the least the side deserved after a strong performance at Princes Park.
Here’s what she had to say post-match…
Ditchburn on the result and performance…
“Obviously we’re all delighted because the draw has come with almost a last minute goal.
“I think that was the least we deserved and we probably did deserve a winner.
“But nonetheless, I think it’ll end up being a big point come the end of the season.
“We needed to be little bit more clinical at certain times, particularly in the first half when we had a few good chances.
“We’ve hit the post, we’ve hit the bar – but overall when you look at this is a team coming into this game where we’ve not had a great run of results recently so we’re lacking a little bit of confidence, if you were to watch that game you would never know it.
“The chances we created and some of the football we played were really, really pleasing and we’ll take that into the next game.”
Ditchburn on the character shown to bounce back twice…
“I think it’s testament to the girls.
“It’s so easy to start feeling sorry for yourself or start doubting yourself when we went behind to such an unfortunate own goal.
“You think to yourself ‘is it going to be one of those days?’, but I never got that impression from the players.
“They showed such character and took the game to London City and deserved to get the equaliser.
“We’ve showed a lot of character today as well as the football that we know we’re capable of.”
Ditchburn on the change in shape…
“That’s something we’ve been looking at – how can we have a little bit more variety and be more unpredictable.
“I thought it suited us well today and the players were really diligent in carrying out the roles that we’d worked upon.
“All credit to them.”
Ditchburn on Eleanor Ryan-Doyle’s niggle…
“It’s an unfortunate one.
“It happened yesterday and we’re going to give it a little bit of time to see the severity of it.
“Hopefully it won’t be too bad and she’ll be in contention for the Blackburn game after the international break.”
