Mollie Lambert: “We’ve Taken The Positives”

Mollie Lambert says Durham Women have taken the positive from their Adobe Women’s FA Cup clash with Manchester City – as they prepare to take on Lewes.

Despite defeat to the top tier side last Sunday, the midfielder believes there is plenty of encouragement that can be taken forwards.

“We’ve taken the positives this week moving into Lewes,” she said.

“Although it was a defeat, it was an unreal experience to be a part of.

“We had a game plan and I think the girls, even when we did concede, stuck to it. Claire, Bob, Brassy, all the backroom staff – we all came together.”

Next up is a trip to The Dripping Pan to face a Lewes side who are always a tough proposition, and have been bolstered by a quartet of January signings.

“We only just took the three points in the last minute last year, so we know what we’re going to face,” said Lambert of Durham’s next opponents.

“We’ve got a game plan, and it’s just how we execute it.”

The trip to East Sussex could see Lambert make her 100th appearance for the club, too.

“It would be a proud moment,” she admitted.

“100 appearances is always something good to cheer about and hopefully I can play a good part in the game.”

So which games stand out as highlights for the 25-year-old?

“I think the cup games, they always give you that extra boost.

“Man United when we won at home on penalties, that was a good day.

“The close games – Sunderland, Sheffield United – they’re always good games to be a part of.

“I enjoy most games I play here anyway!”

Durham are once again set to be backed by a strong away following, and Lambert has praised their impact.

“Our supporters are the best in the league,” she said.

“Everyone can say that, hand on heart. You don’t see many people making that trip, but we know they’ll be there in their numbers and we can’t wait to see them.”
