Saoirse Noonan has lifted the lid on the mood in the Durham Women camp ahead of the visit of Manchester City on Sunday.
The Barclays WSL side travel to Maiden Castle on Sunday, January 14 in the Fourth Round of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup – with the tie set to be broadcast live on the BBC.
And Noonan admits that the build-up to the game has kept everyone excited over the festive period.
“I think everyone enjoyed their Christmas, but we always had Manchester City in the back of our minds,” she said.
“We’ve all come in refreshed, there’s a good buzz around and everyone is looking forward to it.
“It’s nice that it’s at home and we’re expecting a big crowd.”
“We finished off 2023 with a good win – that’s what this team is about – and we want to carry on from that now,” she continued.
“Manchester City are a brilliant team but we’re at home, we’ve got the crowd behind us and we’re the underdog – we love that.”
Noonan played a part in last season’s historic penalty win over Manchester United before being withdrawn through injury – and is relishing the chance to once again take on the best in the country in the shape of the blue side of Manchester.
“Everyone wants to against the big teams and be part of this game,” she admitted.
“There’s huge competition for places as well and we’re just going to put our best foot forward.
“We’re at home, we’ll have the crowd behind us and everyone is excited to see them come.
“The fans have been huge for us this season, home and away.
“It’s a game of football, it’s 90 minutes. Nobody likes playing us so it’s going to be exciting.”
