Supporter Guide: Key Information For Southampton Clash

Durham Women welcome Southampton to Maiden Castle on Sunday, December 17 – in our final home game of 2023!

And a bumper crowd is expected for the clash, with well over 700 tickets already sold as of Thursday morning.

The game sees Durham return to league action after back-to-back cup games – with victory in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup at West Brom followed by defeat against top tier Aston Villa in the FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup.

With Southampton flying high in the Barclays Women’s Championship, this is sure to be another exciting and challenging fixture.

And ahead of the game, we’ve put together some FAQs to make your visit as enjoyable as possible:

When and where is the game taking place?

Durham v Southampton will take place on Sunday, December 17 with a 12:00pm kick-off.

The match will be held at Maiden Castle, DH1 3SE.

The Katem Logistics Cup is our pre-match Football Festival – read all about it HERE!

If you are attending the Katem Logistics Cup, please do not head to the main stadium initially – the Festival will take place on the pitches next to the car park (Car Park 1, as shown on the map further down the page)

Please ensure you do not arrive until after 8:30am – as the car park will not open until this time – and have your tickets ready to be checked on arrival.

Make sure you retain your tickets after this too, as they’ll be checked again when you head around for the first team game – where all tournament participants will be paraded on the pitch at half-time!

If you have any questions, ask your team coach or email mark.donnelly@durhamwfc.co.uk.

Is there somewhere for me to park?

Parking will be available for free in two car parks.

Car Park 1 is situated at Maiden Castle and is just steps from the entrance to the ground.

Spaces will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

If Car Park 1 is full, supporters will be asked to park in Car Park 2 – which is approximately 15 minutes walk away from the ground.

This is indicated on the map below:

We would therefore advise all spectators to arrive in plenty of time to ensure that they arrive at the ground in time for kick-off, should they have to walk from Car Park 2.

We would ask fans to walk or utilise public transport where possible.

What time should I arrive?

Supporters will be able to enter Maiden Castle from 10:30am, which is when the turnstiles will open.

Will I be able to get a seat in the ground?

Seating at Maiden Castle is available on a first come, first served basis. We would therefore recommend that any fan wishing to secure a seat arrive for the turnstiles opening.

We would also ask all supporters to not sit in any seats marked as reserved.

Please note that fans cannot reserve seats by placing coats etc. over them.

There are a number of areas available for supporters wishing to stand, offering a great view of the action.

If you have purchased a Premium Season Ticket then your reserved seat will be available for this game.

What refreshments will be available?

Fat Frank’s Street Food Trucks will be providing food and drinks at the game. Hot and cold options will be available, with cash and card accepted. The catering unit will be situated next to the turnstiles immediately as you enter the ground.

The Club Room Bar will also be open from 10:30am, with the entrance just before the turnstile outside the ground. The bar houses our Club Shop and offers a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

What merchandise will be available?

A wide range of merchandise will be available from our Club Shop – which will be situated inside the Club Room Bar. This will be signposted as you approach the turnstiles.
