Becky Salicki has urged Durham Women’s home fans to back the side this weekend – as they return to Maiden Castle to face London City Lionesses.
After defeat at Crystal Palace last weekend, the Blues are looking to bounce back in their second game on home soil this term.
And while naturally disappointed with the reverse in London, Salicki insists the focus is now on bouncing back.
“There are a lot of lessons to be learned and we’re all absolutely gutted about it,” she said.
“We draw a line under it now and try and do our talking on the pitch.”
But standing in Durham’s way are a London City Lionesses side yet to taste defeat this season – with draws against Sunderland and Reading sandwiched either side of a win over Watford.
And as the Lionesses develop every week under the guidance of Italian coach Carolina Morace, Salicki knows another difficult test is in store.
“It’s tough every single week,” admitted the defender.
“But we just have to go back on the pitch, working harder than we’ve ever done before and try and right our wrongs.”
And to help in achieving that, Salicki has called on Durham’s vocal home support to play their part.
“We want to make our home pitch a fortress,” she added.
“Home is always an advantage for us because of our fans – they’re incredible and they definitely give us that extra edge when it comes to playing these games.
“We need the fans more than ever this week.
“We need them to stick by us, push us, cheer us on – and we’ll give them everything back.”
