Durham Women continued their pre-season preparations with a victory over Scottish champions Glasgow City.
Amy Andrews’ first half brace was enough for the Wildcats, who had chances to extend their lead after the interval too.
But two goals would be enough, despite a late own goal reducing the deficit.
Durham started brightly and had the first real chances of the game – Dee Bradley and Saoirse Noonan both steering headers wide of the far post after teasing deliveries into the box.
They wouldn’t have to wait long for the breakthrough though, as Andrews deservedly handed the visitors the lead on 26 minutes.
After driving forward, the summer signing spun on the edge of the box and found the bottom corner with a low strike.
And she would double both her and Durham’s tally 11 minutes later, surging forward from halfway before cooly slotting past Erin Clachers.
A string of changes for both sides led to a much less open second period, although the hosts did start to fashion some chances of their own.
Lauren Davidson was inches away from turning home a free-kick, and the Scotland international would play a key role in City’s goal – with her cross finding the back of the net via what looked to be a Durham leg.
It was the visiotors who created the better chances late on though, with Jess Clarke and Poppy Pritchard both coming close.
But the Wildcats were indebted to stopper Naoisha McAloon late on as she turned a long-range drive onto the post to preserve victory.
