PREVIEW: Grace Ayre on Birmingham City clash

Grace Ayre is hopeful that Durham Women can end their home campaign on a high – when they face Birmingham City at Maiden Castle on Sunday, April 23 (12pm kick-off).

The two sides met on Wednesday evening with the Midlands outfit running out 1-0 winners, but defender Ayre is hopeful that Durham can take the positives from that clash and obtain a more positive result this time around.

And with another bumper home crowd expected to be behind them, Ayre has urged the Durham faithful to once again be loud and proud.

Here’s what she said ahead of the clash…

Ayre on taking the positives from Wednesday night…

“Considering we’ve got them in quick succession, we can take positives into the game.

“I thought we played well in the first half and were unlucky to come away with nothing.

“There weren’t many chances in the game.”

Ayre on wanting to put things right at home…

“Hopefully with a big crowd behind us we can push on.

“We haven’t had the season we wanted, but with the home crowd hopefully we can put things right.

“We are building something, and it wasn’t going to come together straight away.

“We’ve done well at home with the crowd and hopefully we can do that again.”

Ayre on her message to the fans...

“Just get behind us.

“Be as loud as normal, that really does push us on.”
