PREVIEW: Becky Salicki on Blackburn Rovers trip

Becky Salicki has urged Durham Women to continue to up their game again when they travel to face Blackburn Rovers on Sunday, April 2.

The Wildcats have beaten promotion-chasing duo Southampton and London City Lionesses in their last two outings, but will face another stern test at Bamber Bridge on Sunday (1pm kick-off).

And ahead of the trip to Blackburn – who themselves have secured some big results of late – centre back Salicki knows that another increase in performance levels will be required.

Here’s what the defender had to say ahead of the game…

Salicki on making her 150th appearance against London City Lionesses…

“I’m really proud.

“It’s not something I thought I would do. I’ve been very unlucky with injuries throughout my career, so to say that I’ve reached that milestone – and to do it here – I’m so incredibly proud.

“I was happy to do it at home and get the win too.”

Salicki on the win over London City…

“Everything was just right.

“We’ve been saying for weeks that everything is starting to come together.

“We’ve had some unbelievable coaching and we all just needed to stick together with it – and it shone through on Sunday.

“The first half was really good and then there was the typical, old school Durham defending in the second half.

“It’s a huge three points against a very good team and a clean sheet, which hasn’t been done against them much this year.”

Salicki on the trip to Blackburn…

“We’re well aware of the levels Blackburn have got, and we need to make sure we up our game on Sunday again.

“They’re a very good team with very good players – individually and collectively – and have picked up some very good results of late as well.

“We know it’ll be a battle and that they have the football side to their game as well.

“We just have to be on our game as well and hopefully we take something from it.”
