Durham Women’s Under 12 performance squad competed in the Pokémon Futsal Youth Cup at the Beacon of Light on Sunday, March 5.
The group were split in to two teams, the Whites and the Blues. The girls competed against teams from across the county and displayed some excellent performances – with one of our teams scoring over 20 goals in four games!
Foundation Phase Lead, Katy Hawkins, said: “It was an excellent experience for our players to take part in the Pokémon Futsal Youth Cup.
“Providing the girls with an opportunity to play different formats of the game aids their development.

“Watching the girls play futsal is exciting as they exhibit such a high level of skill and play with such speed.
“We’re looking forward to seeing how this group of players develop and hopefully in the future we will see some of them in the first team.”
The White Team played some brilliant football and went unbeaten in the tournament which saw them finish top and they will go on to represent County Durham in the Regional Finals.
The Regional Finals will take place in May and the girls will play against teams from the Isle of Man, Lancashire, Liverpool, Manchester, North Riding, Northumberland, West Riding and Westmorland.
We can’t wait to see how the girls get on!
