PREVIEW: Naoisha McAloon on Coventry United

Naoisha McAloon says Durham Women can’t wait to return to their home ground – after a month without a game at Maiden Castle.

The Wildcats sealed a dramatic late victory against Sheffield United in their last game on home soil and return to familiar surroundings when they face Coventry United on Sunday, March 5 (12pm kick-off).

It’s a big game in the Barclays Women’s Championship with both teams keen to secure points to move up the table.

We caught-up with stopper McAloon ahead of the clash:

McAloon on her recent Republic of Ireland call-up…

“It was brilliant.

“It’s such an honour to be called-up to the Ireland squad and to be in there learning from the best; it’s a great experience.

“It’s amazing opportunity and I loved it.

“I was delighted to get the nod [against Germany] and get 45 minutes against one of the best teams in the world.

“I just want to learn from it and take everything I can from it.”

McAloon on returning to league action…

“We can’t wait to get back home and we want to bounce back after last week’s result.

“It’s a big game back in the league and we want to try and get as many points as we can and work our way back up the table.”

McAloon on the impact of our home fans…

“Our fans are absolutely unbeliveable.

“Last week at Manchester United we heard them as soon as we got off the bus, so we want to try and put on a show for them and make them happy.

“Just hearing them cheer us on means a lot and we want to give back to them.

“We’re looking to give them a good performance and hopefully a good result.”
