PREVIEW: Lily Crosthwaite Looks Ahead To Sheffield United

Lily Crosthwaite has urged Durham Women’s supporters to get behind the side once again – as they prepare for a third consecutive home game.

Strong crowds have cheered on the Wildcats in recent weeks as they claimed a point against Southampton before progressing in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup with a convincing 3-0 win over Crystal Palace.

This weekend’s return to league action in the Barclays Women’s Championship sees Sheffield United – who are just one place beneath Durham – visit Maiden Castle.

And Crosthwaite believes that the home support could prove crucial.

Here’s what the winger had to say ahead of the game:

Crosthwaite on the win over Crystal Palace…

“It was great.

“It’s what the squad has needed – we wanted a solid result all round and to get three decent goals and to play that well was really good.

“It’s been great for us.”

Crosthwaite on her second goal of the season…

“Everyone wants to score, and the fact I’ve been able to get two quite near to each other has been other.

“Ultimately, I just want to help out the team where I can.”

Crosthwaite on the mood in the camp…

“The last two weeks have been really positive.

“Everyone is happy to be here and we’re working really hard as always.

“The fact we’ve had two decent results against two decent sides has really lifted us up and we just want to keep improving.”

Crosthwaite on the impact of home support…

“It’s mint being here – it’s our home ground and the fans are massive for us.

“Sometimes when you need that extra push, you hear them and you get that lift from them.

“So please show up – when you come it’s unreal and it really does push the squad.”
