PREVIEW: Georgia Robert on Peterborough United

Georgia Robert says Durham Women are ‘raring to go’ as they prepare for their first fixture of 2023.

The Wildcats travel to Peterborough United on Sunday, January 8 in the third round of the Vitality Women’s FA Cup – in what is their first step into the competition this season.

And after ending 2022 with a morale-boosting win at Everton, Robert and her Durham teammates are itching to get back on the field.

Here’s what the defender had to say ahead of the clash…

Robert on the first game of 2023:

“It’s been good to get back in with the girls.

“Everyone is happy to be back. We only had a two week break – it’s gone quickly but felt like forever at the same time!

“We can all agree that we finished 2022 pretty well. It wasn’t the start we wanted, but we finished in a good place and we’re all raring to go and get back.”

Robert on playing in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup:

“The FA Cup has a massive history to it.

“Every year you want to see how far you can go, and it’s the same this year.

“Every game is a challenge no matter who it’s against, and we’ve never played Peterborough before.

“We’re looking forward to the challenge and getting back playing.”

Robert on the travelling support:

“It means the world to us, and it’s incredible they travel all over the country with us.

“When you play away you sometimes only have one or two Mum’s and Dad’s there! But we have our proper travelling fans and it’s great to see them there in the stands.”

Durham Women’s Vitality Women’s FA Cup tie at Peterborough United kicks-off at 1pm on Sunday, January 8 and will be held at The Abbey Lawn, home of Bourne Town FC.

Entry is free at the turnstile, if you say ‘The Urban Penguin Sent Me’.
