PREVIEW: Beth Hepple on Crystal Palace Clash

Beth Hepple is hopeful that Durham Women will again be backed by a bumper crowd when they welcome Crystal Palace to Maiden Castle.

The Eagles visit the North East on Sunday, October 30 (12pm kick-off) and tickets have been flying out following the Wildcats’ penalty win over Manchester United in midweek.

That triumph was watched by a sell-out crowd, and Hepple is hopeful for more strong backing on Sunday.

“It’s a huge game on Sunday,” she said.

“Thankfully we’re at home and off the back of Wednesday we can hopefully have a good crowd again and they can get behind us.

“It was amazing on Wednesday, and it is every home game.

“Compared to other grounds we go to, the backing we get is kind of unmatched.

“It gives you a massive boost when you’re playing and you can hear them all game.”

And while Wednesday’s win over Manchester United remains in the memory of supporters, the players have parked that and quickly turned their focus to Crystal Palace.

“It was an amazing night, but our focus as a team is the league.

“That gets left on Wednesday night and our full focus is on Sunday – but we have a lot of confidence going into the game.

“The last couple of results we’ve had have been good so hopefully we can keep that momentum.”

But the next test for Durham is a stern one – as they face a Crystal Palace side brimming with talent.

And Hepple is well aware of the challenge that lies ahead.

“They’ve got quality throughout the squad and we know they’ll bring that on Sunday.

“It’s always a tough game. It’s going to be a battle – it always is against Crystal Palace and we expect nothing less.”

Tickets for the game remain on sale – with prices starting at just £3!

You can get yours online or on the gate for no increase in price.
