We caught-up with Jess Clarke ahead of Wednesday’s sold-out clash with Manchester United.
Here’s what the forward had to say…
Clarke on the weekend without a fixture:
“It was disappointing not to have the game on Sunday, but we have to take the positives – it’s going to give us fresher legs going into Manchester United. We just have to look forward to that.”
Clarke on the visit of Manchester United:
“What an occasion. We’ve got a sell-out crowd against great opposition. They’ve got some quality players in their side and it will be a good test for us. I think we’re more than capable of taking on the challenge; we’ve got good quality in our team as well. I can’t wait to hopefully put on a good show.”
“That’s what football is about – competing. It’s the first year we’ve gone full-time so it will be a good test to see where we’re at. It’s still early days in the season for us. We’re a new team with new players and we’re still finding our feet. We’re training and getting used to playing with each other, so it’ll be a good test.”
Clarke on bringing her experience:
“I like to think I bring a wealth of experience. I try and lead by example through my performances. I’m not the most vocal player in the room, but when it comes to game day I have that experience and I’m looking forward to tomorrow and seeing where we’re at – not just as a team, but physically as players as well.”
Clarke on the sold-out crowd:
“It’s always great to have fans there supporting you, especially when it gets tough. The game swings and momentum changes and the crowd can be there to help. Hopefully we can put on a good performance. It’s a great occasion and we just have to enjoy it.”
