Maria Farrugia is hopeful that Durham Women can continue to build momentum as they head to Birmingham City on Sunday.
The Wildcats beat Lewes in their last clash, after securing a penalty triumph over Sheffield United prior to the international break, leaving confidence high.
That win over Lewes was far from routine though, with Sarah Robson’s injury time strike sealing the win after Durham had fallen behind.
And Malta international Farrugia is hopeful that the dramatic late win over the Rooks can prove a catalyst moving forward.
“It was really good,” she said.
“Despite coming from a goal behind, to get back into the game and play that football – it was amazing.
“It showed our true character and how determined we are, and hopefully build more momentum.
“It definitely gives us more confidence going into the next game.”
Farrugia was again handed a start against Lewes – with a first goal for the club looking to be growing nearer, too.
“Every start means a lot to me,” she added.
“Goals are important, they win you games, but the three points is at the end of the day more important.”
Next up for Durham is a trip to Birmingham – who were relegated from the Barclays Women’s Super League last term.
And having retained a number of players, Farrugia knows the task ahead will be a tricky one.
“Birmingham are a good side, but we’ve been preparing all week and working hard,” said the forward.
“We’re building momentum each week and we’ll see on Sunday – hopefully we get the three points.”
And with the Wildcats set to be backed by another vocal away following, Farrugia was quick to praise the impact of the fans.
“The fans are amazing – they give us such a great boost.
“Especially like on Sunday, they give us that push to get that goal.”
Those unable to make the trip to St Andrew’s for the 12pm kick-off on Sunday, October 23 can watch the game live and free on the FA Player.
