Georgia Robert says Durham Women’s win over Blackburn provided a major lift – as they prepare to head to London City Lionesses.
A first win of the campaign last time out saw Durham build on some positive performances, and centre back Robert has reflected on the effects of the triumph.
“It’s been a massive lift,” she admitted.
“We were obviously disappointed with the first two results but thought we should have got more from them, and they weren’t bad performances necessarily.
“I just think there were some things that weren’t quite working for us, and we’ve changed those things.
“That’s given us a boost and the win is just the icing on the top.
“The first half we went out and smashed our game plan. The second half they chucked a bit more at us, but we weathered that storm pretty well.”
Next up is a trip to Dartford on Sunday, to face a London City Lionesses side who are among the favourites for promotion this season.
And while aware of the test ahead, Robert hopes Durham can take some momentum into their visit to Princes Park.
“Going into that game off a good performance is good for us,” she said.
“Hopefully we can continue with a bit of momentum, but we know London City will be a test.
“But it’s one we’re looking forward to.”
Robert has featured in all three games this season – starting the last two – after joining from Sheffield United this summer.
So how have things been thus far?
“I’ve loved it.
“The girls are brilliant, they’ve been so welcoming and there’s a good feel around the camp.
“Everyone enjoys being around each other so it’s great coming in every day.”
Durham are again set to be backed by their vocal travelling fans on Sunday – and Robert says that support doesn’t go unnoticed.
“It’s brilliant and means the world,” said the defender.
“Sheffield wasn’t that far, but coming to London is incredible.
“It’s a massive boost having your own fans there supporting you.”
The 12pm kick-off will be covered live on Durham Women’s social media channels – with blow-by-blow action available to be followed on Twitter (@DurhamWFC).
