Durham Women welcome Blackburn Rovers to Maiden Castle this weekend – as they look for a first win of the Barclays Women’s Championship campaign.
The side were held by Sunderland on the opening day of the season before falling to defeat at Sheffield United in their last outing.
But defender Ellie Christon says that Durham have put that result to bed over the last three weeks of training, and are ready for the challenge posed by Gemma Donnelly’s side this weekend.

“We were disappointed with that result, but we’ve put it right in training,” said the full-back.
“We’ve had a good few weeks of training now and everyone is positive.
“We’ve got new coaches and new players – and we’re definitely building something.
“The games will keep coming thick and fast so we have to keep taking each week as it comes and taking what we can from each game.”
Blackburn already have one win to their name, beating Sheffield United on the opening day, but were beaten at Bristol City in their last game despite a positive performance.
And while Durham claimed three victories over Rovers in league and cup last season, all the games were tight affairs – and Christon knows it’s set to be another tough clash this time around.
“They’ve been in the league a long-time and they’re always a battle.
“Every team in this league is difficult so we need to turn up with the right attitude and work ethic.”
Durham are set to be roared on by another big crowd at Maiden Castle this weekend – and Christon believes that home support could be key.
“The fans can be huge,” she admitted.
