NEWS: Durham Women & Durham Hospitals Radio Continue Partnership

Durham Women FC are delighted to confirm that Durham Hospitals Radio (DHR) will continue to broadcast the club’s games during the 2022/23 season.

The two organisations began working together in 2014 as Durham entered the elite of women’s football, and have provided commentary of every home game since – calling many memorable moments from throughout Durham’s history.

But the partnership hasn’t just been confined to the pitch – with Durham Women helping to provide new equipment to enable DHR to continue their remote broadcasts.

And now the pair will continue to work together moving forward, with DHR set to offer commentary of every home game and select away games on dhradio.org.uk and within the hospital.

Indeed, John Middleton will be present at Bramall Lane on Saturday, August 27 to provide live and free commentary of Durham’s Barclays Women’s Championship clash with Sheffield United.

Commenting on the continuation of the partnership, Middleton said: “It has been a privilege to witness our club grow and flourish over the years, and an honour to bring it to the wider world.

“I must thank Mark, Lee, Dawn and everyone at the club and the FA for facilitating this. Here’s to even more exciting times to come!”

Mark Donnelly, Durham’s Operations & Marketing Manager, added: “Everyone at the club is really grateful to John, Phill and the rest of the DHR team for their continued support.

“We know how much people appreciate their broadcasts, with fans inside and outside the ground tuning in on a weekly basis.

“DHR’s commentary has drawn praise from clubs and fans across the country and we’re so pleased that they’re going to keep providing that service to supporters.”
