LAMBERT: ‘Moving In The Right Direction’

Mollie Lambert says she believes that Durham Women have been moving in the right direction in the early weeks of pre-season.

The midfielder and her teammates have been hard at work at Maiden Castle ahead of the new Barclays Women’s Championship campaign – and Lambert feels the early signs are positive as Durham embark on a new, full-time era.

“It’s been good,” she said.

“We’re learning and moving in the right direction.

“It’s good to get back out there and get lots of touches on the ball and it’s a good camp at the minute.

“It’s amazing to be full-time and it’s given everyone an extra boost, and hopefully it gives us an extra push this season.”

All the preparation work is geared-up to the opening day clash with Sunderland, which is expected to be played in front of a sell-out crowd.

And Lambert believes a vocal home backing could prove key.

“It’s unreal and they really do push us on,” she said of the supporters.

“It could be the 60th minute and a bit under pressure and them being there gives us that extra little push.

“We want a home game, derby, first game of the season, sold out – it makes it more exciting.”
