Northern Ireland manager Kenny Shiels has heaped praise on Durham Women’s Sarah Robson – as she prepares to return to club action.
Robson was an ever-present for the GAWA during their Euro 2022 campaign, even captaining the side in their first ever major tournament fixture against Austria.
And she drew a host of praise from Shiels after a number of committed performances at centre back for her national team.
The Northern Ireland boss said: “If you were picking a team of the tournament as of now, Northern Ireland have the best left-back in the tournament and we also have the best centre-back – Demi Vance at left-back and Sarah McFadden as our centre-half,.
“There’s nobody better in this tournament than those two but two isn’t enough, we have to try and develop players to reach those standards.”
There was further praise for Robson to come, too.
“She’s a brilliant competitor, she’s unbelievable in terms of if you are in her company, you warm to her. She’s the same on the pitch, she leads by her actions.
“She is a super human being and a fantastic player.
“She’s 35 and has just signed a full-time contract (at Durham) which is testament to her club.
“She’s a fantastic player and one who sets examples for the rest of the team.”
Robson is set to return to Maiden Castle ahead of the 2022/23 season having signed a new contract earlier this summer.
The side are currently busy preparing for the opening day of the Barclays Women’s Championship season – with Sunderland first up on August 21.
